1917 - Heldenfels Brothers opens a shipyard in Rockport to build badly-needed timber cargo ships for the U.S. government in World War I.

1927 -The 156-foot-high water tower built by Heldenfels Brothers in Alice, Texas. Later, it entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's tallest concrete water tower. The tank itself was built from succeeding hoops of concrete cast in wooden forms.

1937 - Heldenfels Brothers builds a 37-mile stretch of highway through the King Ranch. It was the longest stretch of highway built at the time using the soil-cement technique, and the first highway ever cut through the South Texas ranching country.

1951 - Construction of the Port Isabel-Padre Island Causeway, utilizing one of Texas' first precasting operations and a barge-mounted concrete plant.

1955 - Heldenfels Brothers opens a prestressed concrete plant in Corpus Christi.

1958 - Fred Heldenfels, Jr. is president of the national AGC, having been integrally involved in encouraging the approval and authorization of the Federal Interstate Highway System.

1964 - Heldenfels Brothers completes construction of runways and aprons at the Houston Intercontinental Airport (now George Bush Intercontinental Airport). Heldenfels also later provided precast concrete that was used for air traffic control towers in various Texas airports.

1973 - Heldenfels Brothers completes construction of the John F. Kennedy Bridge on the Padre Island Causeway, the first precast concrete segmental bridge built in the United States. It also utilized substantial quantities of prestressed concrete beams and pilings.

1989 - Heldenfels Brothers builds the first double-deck "Zulu" pier on the Gulf Coast at Naval Station Ingleside near Corpus Christi. The Homeport pier used a total precast construction system, including piling, pier caps and deck, all of which were delivered by barge.

1991 - Heldenfels Brothers provides structural precast for the Redfish Bay Relief Bridge near Aransas Pass, TXDOT's first extensive designed use of precast pile caps.

1995 - Fred Heldenfels IV forms Heldenfels Enterprises, Inc. with his father F.W. Heldenfels III and buys the Corpus Christi prestressed plant, continuing Heldenfels Brothers' operations on the Corpus Christi ship channel.

1996 - Heldenfels Enterprises acquires the Heldenfels Brothers prestressed concrete plant in San Marcos, Texas.

1999 - Heldenfels Enterprises completes their first two major stadium projects. Heldenfels expanded the north end zone of Kyle Field (home of the Texas Aggies), and provided all of the structural precast for Astros Field (home of the Houston Astros). Heldenfels has since provided structural precast for Reliant Stadium (home of the Houston Texans) and SBC Center (home of the San Antonio Spurs).

2001 - Heldenfels Enterprises adds first 'non-family' Advisors to its' Board of Directors, appointing David Engel, owner of Engel & Associates and former CEO of Welders Supply and Charles P. O'Leary, then President of Northeast Concrete Products, LLC.
